| Profile: Jordan Lanclos
I had the pleasure of listening to Jordan Lanclos play the guitar at the annual L'il Angels Daycamp where he is a junior counselor. Jordan is quiet, talented and has been enjoying music for as long as he can remember. He started taking guitar lessons recently and is already quite proficient on the instrument. .
On a rock 'n' roll
Theyre at Summerfest, church carnivals, raucous nightclubs, lively Jewish weddings, crowded coffeehouses, gubernatorial parties, swank yacht clubs, corporate shindigs, barnlike college auditoriums and any other place imaginable where professional musicians are required. There is an enormous gulf between the wanna-be dreams of the garage band hobbyist and the dedicated grind needed by full-time performers to pay dental bills and mortgages, juggle family obligations, keep tax records, deal with club owners and be sure there are extra guitar strings packed. .
Learn Guitar in 7 Minutes
As Home Educators from all over the State pack into the Ontario, California Convention Center, Friday, July 7, Guitar Coach Jean Welles gets ready to make good on her boast that she can teach almost anyone to play the guitar in 7 minutes. I have helped over 100,000 people learn to play the guitar through private lessons and my series, "Jean Welles Worship Guitar Class(tm), says Welles. I look forward to teaching as many of the over 3000 home school students expected this weekend at CHEAs event. Californias largest Home school Fair is put on by "The Christian Home Educators Association of California," (CHEA) a non-profit ministry established in 1982 to provide information, support, and training to the home education community throughout the state. Welles, who has been teaching Guitar lessons for over 30 years, is excited to be among the participants this year at CHEA.
Emma Roberts' career moves at a non-stop pace
She may star in a TV show called "Unfabulous," but actress Emma Roberts appears to have a most smashing career. With the popular Nickelodeon show, the hit film "Aquamarine" (now out on DVD) and the title role in an upcoming "Nancy Drew" movie _ well, there's a reason why Roberts doesn't need to ask her famous aunt Julia for job advice (Dad, by the way, is actor Eric Roberts). We chatted recently with Roberts about the importance of follow-through, Harry Potter and those celebrity family ties. Q: Where are you calling from? A: I'm in New York, (promoting) the Band-Aid brand "Stick With It" contest _ it's a contest that inspires kids to stick with it, whether that be academics or sports or instruments or hobby. You enter by writing an essay (due by Aug. 15, 2006) and there's a grand prize and other prizes.
Software of note for beginning guitarists
I've always been a huge fan of computer-based learning. I love software designed to teach typing, foreign languages, playing guitar and so on. I've been very impressed with guitar lessons from iPlayMusic. More specifically, I'm impressed with the just-released Beginner Guitar Lessons DVD. .
